Fire Instructor I is designed to meet the needs of entry-level fire and emergency service instructors by meeting or exceeding the job performance requirements in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041, Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications.

Upon completion of this course the student will be eligible to submit for certification by the Texas State Firemans’ and Fire Marshalls’ Association (SFFMA) as a Fire Instructor I.

Schedule: May 10 – May 22, 2021
May 10-21: Online Curriculum – Must complete all assignments by May 22
May 22: In-Person Skills Day – 0800-1700

Location: Online – Hybrid
Skills will be held at: 1001 Main St, Bastrop, Tx 78602 @ TPSTA HQ

Course maximum is 20 students. All others will be placed on a waiting list.

All materials provided with registration.

Students will need a laptop or tablet for this course with Word and PowerPoint and able to convert to PDF for files.

*If using HB 2604 or Department funds, select option for invoice, not paypal. Payment instructions will be emailed to registrant’s email address. Departments may also mail a check or pay by card.

**Once registered for this course, refunds or the cancellation of payments/debt due to TPSTA will only be issued if registrations are cancelled with at least 48 hours advanced notice before first day of class, or if the Agency Chief/Head contacts the Director & Chief of Texas Public Safety Training Academy before the start of the first day of training and verifies an emergency circumstance occurred that requires the registrant to drop from the course. The TPSTA EMS Program Director & Fire Chief has sole discretion to determine what constitutes an emergency in these cases.
